In an official statement, the government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, led by President Nicolás Maduro, has expressed its firm rejection of the decision by the Donald Trump administration to terminate the license granted to Chevron to operate and export oil from Venezuela.

The statement asserts that “the new U.S. government has succumbed to pressure from failed and defeated opposition sectors in Venezuela” by sanctioning Chevron, a company with over a century of history in the country. According to the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Chevron has until April 3 to wind down its exports from Venezuela.

In response to this situation, Venezuela has activated what it calls the “Plan for Absolute Productive Independence.” The government emphasizes that this strategy aims to ensure the recovery and diversification of the hydrocarbon industry and the national economy.

“The new U.S. government, intending to harm the Venezuelan people, is inflicting damage on itself by causing an increase in fuel prices and undermining the legal security of investments,” the statement reads.

The statement calls for national unity, declaring that “neither in the past nor now will the same failed and defeated opponents be able to harm our country.” It emphasizes that “a great sense of awareness and national unity will continue to guide the path of economic recovery with social justice.”

The statement concludes with a powerful message: “Let us proclaim loudly from the heart of our people, with the liberator José Gervasio Artigas: let us expect nothing but from ourselves. Nothing and no one will be able to stop the right to the future and happiness of the Venezuelan people!”

With this declaration, the Venezuelan government reaffirms its commitment to the country’s economic and social sovereignty as it faces the sanctions imposed by the United States.
